UK Comedy Package:

Sky 1 HD is proud to offer an exceptional variety of star-studded UK comedy programming which is now available for sponsorship. Each series is an exclusive UK premiere and the package will run until 2013.

The package includes:

Starlings

STARLINGS will follow the lives of the Starling family, a typical working class brood living in Matlock, Derbyshire. Grandad (Alan Williams - Luther, Rome) has recently moved in, following a rabble rousing incident at the old folks' home. Rather than see him unhappy, his son Terry (Brendan Coyle - Downton Abbey) and wife Jan (Lesley Sharp - Scott & Bailey, The Shadow Line), decide to put him up in their already crammed family home.

A Touch of Cloth

A Touch of Cloth is an all-encompassing parody of every police procedural ever written. It stars John Hannah (The Mummy, Spartacus) as DCI Jack Cloth - a maverick, heavy drinking loner who has thrown himself into his work following the mysterious death of his wife. The damaged, haunted Cloth is teamed with plucky no-nonsense sidekick DC Anne Oldman, played by Suranne Jones (Coronation Street, Unforgiven). Together the pair investigate a series of increasingly grisly murders and find themselves on the trail of a devious killer.

Mount Pleasant - Series 2

Mount Pleasant will follow the life of Mancunian Lisa and the day-to-day adventures she has with her husband, friends and family. Written by Sarah Hooper it boasts a veritable who's-who of British stars including Sally Lindsay who takes the lead role of Lisa, Daniel Ryan as her husband Dan.

Spy - Series 2

Sky 1 HD announced that the hit comedy SPY will return for a longer second series, which will include 10 half-hour episodes, along with an hour long Christmas special. SPY premiered as part of Sky 1 HD's Comedy Fridays and attracted acclaim from both critics and the public for Simeon Goulden's scripts, alongside the lead performances from Darren Boyd and newcomer Jude Wright along with Robert Lindsay as the unconventionally eccentric ‘Examiner'.

Moone Boy

This new series is written by Chris O'Dowd (Bridesmaids, The IT Crowd) and Nick Vincent Murphy (Hideaways, The Running Mate). Adapted from O'Dowd's own comedy short for Sky 1 HD in last December's Little Crackers series, Chris will also star in this part autobiographical comedic look at his life growing up in Ireland in 1989. Moone Boy will start production in O'Dowd's hometown of Boyle, Co Roscommon and Dublin in the New Year and will be broadcast on Sky 1 HD next summer.

The Cafe - Series 2

Co-written by, and Starring, Ralph Little (The Royle Family), this cosy seaside comedy series proved a huge hit with viewers and critics alike. The Cafe is set in and around a café in Weston-Super-Mare run by generational trilogy Mary (June Watson), Carol (Ellie Haddington) and Sarah (Michelle Terry). Sarah is in her late twenties and recently returned home from London as she attempts to pursue a writing career.

Stella - Series 2

Stella, the brainchild of Ruth Jones (Gavin & Stacey), won over a loyal audience on Sky 1 HD. The first series' debut was the second biggest UK comedy launch in multichannel history and proved a massive success. A charming slice of the working-class Welsh Valleys, Stella is a comedy drama that centres around the world of Stella (Ruth Jones), a 40-something mum juggling the ups and downs of family life, amid the chaos of her eccentric friends, relatives and children's fathers.

Gates

Gates is an ensemble comedy headed by Sue Johnston (The Royle Family, Waking The Dead), Tom Ellis (Miranda, Merlin) and Joanna Page (Gavin and Stacey, Love Actually) which is set in the all too familiar chaos of the school gates. Ellis and Page play parents Mark and Helen who've recently moved to the South East where their nine-year-old daughter is starting at a new primary school. And they're about to discover what happens when your children choose your friends.

Parents

Parents is a sharp, quick-witted family sitcom. The series will star Sally Phillips (Green Wing, Miranda) and Darren Strange (Phone Shop, The Armando Iannucci Shows) as a married couple with two teenaged kids, forced to move in with their parents played by Coronation Street's Susie Blake and Friends's Tom Conti.
