Non Linear Measurement
It is also possible to capture the viewing to non linear broadcast events via the return path data. Insight from the SkyView panel gives Sky a greater understanding of its customers and their viewing behaviour across different platforms. There are robust sample sizes for households with Sky+, HD and homes with access to Sky Anytime TV.
The panel is unique in being able to measure actual viewing behaviour on a second by second basis. Here are some recent insights into viewing behaviour :
Sky+
In Sky+ homes an average of 18.7% of all viewing is in timeshift mode. September 2008 was a record month with 19.8% of all viewing in timeshift. The highest channel in this month was Sky One HD with 57% of all viewing in timeshift. The post popular programme genres viewed in timeshift mode are Drama Series, Soaps, Documentaries and Movies.
Sky Anytime TV
Sky Anytime TV is now the 8th most popular channel amongst users of the Anytime service. August 2008 was the first month where the service reached over 1 million customers. Reach has increased by 112% year on year, with almost 1 in 4 enabled homes accessing Anytime each and every week.
