New Barclays Premier League Season Begins

Sky Sports 1/HD1/3D/ESPN

Starts Saturday 13 August

Put your team's new shirt on and get ready for another pulsating season as the 20th Barclays Premier League campaign kicks off this month. Last year delivered some great drama. The ‘Theatre of Dreams' staged the headline act as Manchester United captured a record-breaking 19th top flight title, while Liverpool provided ample support with their stunning turnaround under Kenny Dalglish. Other notable feats saw Manchester City continue their surge up the table by securing their Champions League berth, while Birmingham City became the first side in Premier League history to win a trophy and then be relegated in the same season. But the new campaign has the potential to usurp that spectacle. Swansea City have returned to the top tier for the first time in almost 30 years, while big-spending Queens Park Rangers and Norwich City are also back. Chelsea gave Carlo Ancelotti his marching orders, leaving his replacement with some sizeable shoes to fill. And Manchester City are sure to invest heavily in the summer to ready themselves for another assault on the Premier League title. And the Citizens' first opportunity to showcase their latest talent will come against their neighbours and rivals United in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium. Sky Sports HD will be showing plenty of live games throughout the season, with more matches also available in 3D than ever before.

International Cricket: The Battle Continues

Sky Sports 1/HD1

Continues Wednesday 10 August, 10.30

One of the most eagerly anticipated series in recent history continues. England and India are arguably the two in-form sides in Test cricket at present, both losing just three of their last 20 matches. The sides will contest the third Test at Edgbaston this month, followed by their fourth and final meeting at the Oval. The series then moves on to the shorter format of the game, with a Twenty20 battle at Old Trafford. Should England secure victory in their preceding series with Sri Lanka, their meetings with India could potentially decide who is officially the best Test side in the world. And if England can claim that honour, it would represent another sizeable achievement for captain Andrew Strauss. The Middlesex batsman has already led the Lions to two Ashes triumphs. In between the Test and T20 meetings with India, England also take on Ireland in Dublin. The sides played out one of the most memorable ODIs in history when they met in the World Cup back in March. There, Kevin O'Brien smashed the quickest century in one-day history as the Irish chased down England's mammoth target of 327 to win.

WWE SummerSlam

Sky Box Office/SBO HD

Sunday 14 August

One of World Wrestling Entertainment's most prestigious events, SummerSlam, takes place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles this month. Along with the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania and Survivor Series, this extravaganza is considered one of the WWEs ‘Big Four'. Running since 1988, the first SummerSlam was headlined by a tag-team match pitting Hulk Hogan and ‘Macho Man' Randy Savage against Ted DiBiase and Andre the Giant. Four years later, it would become the one and only WWE extravaganza to be held in England, taking place at the old Wembley Stadium in London. Last year saw Sheamus retain the WWE Championship despite being disqualified in his match with Randy Orton, while Kane successfully defeated Rey Mysterio to keep hold of his World Heavyweight title. And the main event saw Team WWE, which included John Cena and Bret ‘The Hitman' Hart, overpower The Nexus.
