Bike is the reference for cycling fans. As a cycling-only channel, 24 hours a day, Bike has reaped immediate success in its first launch market, Italy, and will now be launching in the UK on December 10th.
The channel’s philosophy has been clear from the start:
Bike approaches bicycles and cycling in all its nuances: from road to mountain bike, whilst mixing in Bmx, vintage cycles, e-Bikes, fixies and cyclo-tourism. This has been Bike’s trump card, together with format innovation that has seen the first reality shows on cycling with the exclusive productions like The Coach, The Challenge and the Finisher.
Bike has been the first to ride the triathlon wave bringing to its audiences all the emotion of top triathlon events, from ITU World Triathlon Series to Ironman World Championship including Kona, without forgetting some national and international events that will also be scheduled for UK like Outlaw, Cardiff, Bolton and London triathlon.
Since cycling fans love suffering and self-sacrifice, Bike has included in its programming adventure races and Mountain Running World Cup. The acquisition of live and exclusive coverage of races such as Tour de Suisse, Tour of Romandie and Gent-Wevelgem will be a significant step for the channel in the UK, all presented with technical commentaries by notorious ex-professional riders.
Exclusive interviews with the athletes of the past and present, anecdotes and stories of the famous faces of the sector and all the vintage docs with programmes that tell the exploits of the legends of the Tour de France will be found on Bike.
With races including Cape Epic and Roc d’Azur to the Mahikan Race and finally Snow Epic, there is lots for viewers to get involved with. However, Bike does not stop there! Opening a window on the world of women’s cycling, there are many documentaries on the most beautiful stories in shades of pink with a space dedicated to the special training, nutrition, and market news, with insights and news from major trade shows. Fast forwarding to the future, another share of programming is dedicated to younger generations with spectacular Red Bull contents, UCI Bmx Supercross, Downhill and Cyclocross.
Last but not least, cyclo-tourism is high on the agenda with many programs dedicated to food, culture and itineraries of the most beautiful regions in Italy and Europe, (obviously to be travelled with a bicycle), while Sportives events are of course one of the pillars of the programming.
Bike has balanced programming with a mix of acquisitions, live events, and in-house productions to meet the tastes of a vast and varied audience of cycling lovers. As a point of reference for small and large companies in the cycling sector, Bike is launching the gauntlet on a European arena with the UK as the first step.
As a nation that is embracing cycling in all aspects of life, and with the exchange between Italy and the UK, Bike network is set to grow and increase its leadership in today’s panorama of cycling .
December 10th, BIKE launch in UK.
