Europe’s #1 Hardgoods golf brand, Callaway, has today announced it will co-sponsor Sky Sports’ UK coverage of all PGA European Tour and US PGA Tour golf for a third consecutive year, as part of an integrated campaign that will put amateur golfers as the stars of its idents.
The sponsorship agreement, which begins on Thursday 3rd March and runs until the end of August, will see a blend of 15-second and 5-second Callaway idents appearing throughout Sky’s golf broadcast coverage as well as a strong presence on the golf sections of SkySports.com and the Sky Sports News app.
The campaign, featuring Callaway Staff Professionals such as Phil Mickelson, Danny Willett and Henrik Stenson, will showcase two of Callaway’s hero product lines for 2016, the XR 16 Drivers and Chrome Soft Golf Balls.
As well as these household names, the campaign will also feature a mixture of amateur golfers and retail partners (Callaway PGA Professional ambassadors), who will be recruited in the coming weeks via Callaway’s social media channels.
David Shore, Head of Sponsorship at Sky Media, said: “Callaway’s innovative approach to its sponsorship over the past two years has allowed the brand to cleverly engage with the Sky Sports golf audience. With even more tournaments on our channels, including The Open to be broadcast on Sky Sports for the first time, golf fans can look forward to a great all-round viewing experience in 2016.”
Nick McInally, Marketing Director of Callaway EMEA, said: “We have an incredible product line up for 2016 and the continued partnership with Sky Sports allows us to showcase it in a very unique way, using real golfers alongside their golfing heroes. A significant part of our business success over the past two years has been influenced by this innovative campaign and we are once again thrilled to be giving consumers the opportunity of becoming a star of #TeamCallaway.”
