CBS Drama, which is owned and operated by the CBS AMC Networks UK Channels Partnership, today announced that it is expanding its reach by launching on the UK’s biggest free-to-air digital television provider, Freeview, on September 1. It is currently carried on Sky channel 149, Freesat channel 134 and Virgin channel 197. This carriage deal means CBS Drama will be available to over 90% of UK households on Freeview channel 74.
CBS Drama has also acquired from CBS Studios International three top-rated, high-profile series as part of the new Autumn line up: “Sex and the City“, “Californication” and “Nurse Jackie“ will play out weeknights together in a must-see drama block starting at 22:05.
Other flagship series on the channel include the contemporary British dramas “Waterloo Road” and “Clocking Off,” US soaps “Knots Landing” and “Dallas” and retro classics “Beverly Hills 90210” and “Taxi.”
Tanya Gugenheim, Chief Business Development and New Media Officer, AMC Networks International – Zone said: “CBS Drama offers some of the best in British and American drama and we look forward to sharing this popular content with the Freeview audiences.”
CBS Action and CBS Reality launched on Freeview in 2014 while Horror Channel joined the DTT platform in April this year. All three channels have seen their audience levels increase by over 150% since launch on DTT with CBS Reality going on to be the biggest factual entertainment channel in the country and Horror Channel the second most-watched movie channel in the UK.
