CBS UK Channels deliver record audience

2015 proved to be a great year for CBS UK channels as they deliver a record audience to advertisers.

UK Channels CBS Reality, CBS Action, CBS Drama and Horror Channel have reported their highest ever year of SOCI (share of commercial impacts[1]) growth for advertisers, resulting in a delivery of 2.18% of the UK’s commercial TV audience in 2015, a 56% increase against 2014.

The CBS Channels, owned by CBS Studios International and AMC Networks International – UK, also achieved an overall UK audience share of 1.29% in 2015, up 58% on 2014, according to official BARB data. September was a record-breaking month with 1.46%. share of UK viewers. The strongest ever share of UK viewers for the channels was reached on 13 September with 1.8%.

CBS Reality is now the biggest factual entertainment channel in the UK amongst adult women and the tenth most watched non-PSB channel amongst all adults.[3]  The channel experienced significant growth year-on-year with full year audience share delivery up by 25% on 2014 to 0.6%.  The strong mix of entertainment and crime documentary series including “Judge Judy”, “48 Hours: Mystery”, “Medical Detectives” and “Hoarders” continue to prove a major hit with audiences.

In 2016 the channel will air a number of original series including “Stalkers Who Kill” that will debut on Sunday, 6 March at 10:00 p.m.

Horror Channel, the UK’s first thematic TV channel dedicated to the dark side of cinema and TV, is now the second most popular movie channel amongst our key 25-54 audience demographic in the UK. Horror saw huge gains of over 150% in average audience year on year thanks to a launch on the Freeview platform and the premier of a large, new range of movie content.

Upcoming premieres include Stephen King adaptation Secret Window with Johnny Depp, Black Death with Eddie Redmayne and Waz starring Tom Hardy.

CBS Action enjoyed fantastic audience growth year on year of 211% to become one of the biggest male skewing fiction channels in the UK.

2016 will see the channel celebrate the 50th anniversary of Star Trek with varied programming stunts throughout the year.

CBS Drama became our fourth brand to join the Freeview platform, making the channel available to almost 95% of the country, with reach doubling to over 3 million adults a month.

The channel continues to air classic CBS programming including “Matlock”, “Judging Amy” and “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman”.
