Kia Motors UK Ltd has announced that they will become the official sponsor of England’s Home International and Kia Women’s Super League Cricket on Sky Sports this summer.
The seven-figure-deal, brokered by Havas Media, in collaboration with Sky Media, will see Kia sponsor the Sky Sports coverage of the Men’s International and Women’s Super League matches from May 2017, through to September 2017. This includes; the one-day Internationals, T20s and England test matches against Ireland, South Africa and the West Indies.
The partnership places Kia at the heart of cricket in 2017; consolidating the brand’s ongoing support of UK cricket, which includes existing sponsorship of the Kia Oval ground and Surrey CCC, England’s International Women’s Cricket team and the Kia Super League.
Sponsorship of the Kia Super League demonstrates the brand’s support for greater opportunities for women in cricket. The competition was originally created to provide the England Women’s team with greater opportunities domestically, to maintain their high standard of playing, as well as to inspire young women to play cricket at all levels.
David Hilbert, Marketing Director at Kia Motors UK Ltd said: “We are absolutely delighted to be partnering with Sky and its coverage of International and Women’s cricket this summer. Kia has been a long term sponsor of cricket on an international, domestic and grass roots level. The broadcast of the Kia Super League on Sky Sports in particular is seminal not just for Kia and its sponsorship, but more importantly for women’s cricket as a whole”.
On-air competitions will offer viewers the chance to play cricket at the Kia Oval and, to include non-players, an opportunity to win a trip to India to watch an IPL match in one of the biggest cricketing nations in the world.
Experiential activity in shopping malls will also offer people around the UK the opportunity to win XXX while raising Kia’s profile in non-sport environments.
Simon Jenkins, Managing Partner of Havas Media said: “Over recent years Kia has become synonymous with cricket in the UK. Sky Sports is widely recognised as the home of cricket, so the partnership was a natural fit. The partnership is a great opportunity for Kia to reinforce its support for grass roots cricket, through to to the highest level of competition, and to effectively increase brand awareness amongst its target audience.”
David Shore, Head of Sponsorship at Sky Media, commented: “At Sky, we believe in forging partnerships that are genuine and have longevity. By aligning Kia to Sky Sports we will effectively reinforce Kia’s support of UK cricket, as well as extending Kia’s brand reach to an even broader audience.”
