London, Munich, Milan, 19 November 2015 – Sky Media, the advertising sales division of Sky, is to create a new international sales team. The team will work with major global and European brands to develop campaigns that can be delivered at scale across Sky’s territories in Europe as well as capitalise on its growing international news distribution.
For advertisers, Sky Media represents a unique opportunity to build the profile of products and brands through advertising and sponsorship in some of the biggest markets in Europe and beyond. The combination of Sky in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy, which came together at the end of 2014, has created Europe’s leading entertainment company with 21 million customers.
Sky Media’s portfolio of Sky wholly-owned channels and partner channels from major broadcasters including Viacom, Discovery, FOX, and NBC Universal reaches a European-wide audience of over 100 million viewers every month. In addition, Sky Media also sells a growing range of digital inventory including online and mobile assets.
Beyond Europe, Sky News is distributed on a global basis in markets such Asia, the Middle East, the US and Africa, which allows advertisers to further extend the reach of campaigns.
The team will be headed by Bernd Daubenmerkl in the new role of Director, International Sales & Partnerships.Based in Munich, he will report to John Litster, Managing Director, Sky Media in the UK and work closely with Wolfram Winter, Executive Vice President Communications, Public Affairs & Advertising Sales in Germany, and Jacques Raynaud, Executive Vice President for Sports and Advertising Sales in Italy.
Recruitment for the new team has already begun and it will be based in territoriesacross Europe as well as international markets, including Asia, where Sky is building new client partnerships.
Bernd joins from Eurosport Media GmbH, where he has been Managing Director since 2006. In addition to responsibility for ad sales, marketing and communications, Bernd also oversaw distribution and finance for the pan-European sport platform. Prior to this, he was Sales Director, Germany and Commercial Director, Germany, Eastern Europe & Scandinavia.
