Former footballers, celebrities and special guests will go head-to-head on the pitch at the closest stadium to the tower, and there’ll be a special pre-match show with players and pundits, alongside those affected by the events in west London.
Football greats of yesteryear including Les Ferdinand, Alan Shearer and David Seaman will be joined by the likes Olly Murs, Tinie Tempah, Jarvis Cocker and Jamie Dornan. Gregg Jules, close friend of former England international Peter Crouch and a firefighter directly involved in the relief effort, will also lace up his boots.
Ahead of the #Game4Grenfell, Phil Edgar-Jones, Director of Sky Arts and Head of Entertainment, who commissioned the live match, told today@sky: “Through the power of football, the aim for #Game4Grenfell is to raise funds for those affected by the tragic events of June. We hope our broadcast will let millions of people across the country stand together with the Grenfell community on 2nd September.”
Tickets are on sale right now. If you’d like to get some, head to www.game4grenfell.com.
The money raised from ticket sales is going directly to the London Community Foundation for allocation to the Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund, distributing fund to survivors and the wider community affected by the fire.
