TVs Influence in the Purchase of Christmas Presents

Over half of parents have already started planning for their child’s main present.

For some parents, consideration of Christmas gifts begins in September to avoid products selling out and last minute rush. Over half of parents have already started planning for their child’s main present.

Further to this, over 42% of parents have already purchased a Christmas gift for 2016, and 78% of parents say they are planning on buying Christmas gifts for children earlier this year. Most popular brands that are being considered for Christmas gifts this year include: Lego, Star Wars, Fisher Price, My Little Pony, Hot Wheels and Barbie.

Research indicates that TV advertising has an important role to play in the generation of ideas for presents. 75% of children ask for things they have seen on TV and 46% of parents agree that TV is often the first place they get children’s gift ideas from.
