The National Rugby League (NRL) is considered amongst Rugby League fans to be the standout competition in the calendar year. The league is contested by 16 teams, 15 based in Australia and 1 in New Zealand. Melbourne Storm and Brisbane Broncos are the 2 most successful teams to date, each winning 3 league titles.
The league is graced with world class talent from across the globe with the likes of Sam Burgess (Ex. Bath & England Rugby Union) playing for South Sydney Rabbitohs to Cameron Smith (Melbourne Storm) the World player of the year 2017.
The NRL competition is currently at it’s most contested for years with a new club being crowned champions in each of the last five seasons. Most recently Melbourne Storm were victorious in 2017’s campaign beating North Queensland Cowboys 34-6 in The Grand Final; making them the team to beat this year.

This 3-match series takes place between two state representative teams, The New South Wales Blues and the Queensland Maroons.
