Sky Sports, the home of golf, will once again bring golf fans unparalleled coverage from all the biggest events in 2019. The action-packed schedule includes the Majors, European Tour, PGA Tour, Ladies PGA Tour and World Golf Championship events. Sky Sports Golf is the biggest destination for live Golf in the UK and this sponsorship gives brands the opportunity to associate themselves in an environment that appeals strongly to a loyal ABC1 male audience, around one of the PGA Tour’s major championships.
With exclusive coverage of the prestigious U.S. Open Championship, an opportunity presents itself to become a co-sponsor of this highly-anticipated golf Major. This opportunity allows the right brand to align itself with premium golf content, whilst reaching an affluent, up-market audience through Sky’s broadcast, digital and VOD platforms.
The U.S. Open is the second of the four major golf tournaments in the calendar. The U.S. Open course changes each year, with the 2019 event taking place at the iconic Pebble Beach. The course has previously held the U.S. Open five times, and became the first public course to host the tournament in 1972. It has produced some of the most memorable US Open’s in history and 2019 promises to be no less intriguing.
Last year’s U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, saw Brooks Koepka lift his second successive US Open trophy. Known for having some of the toughest links on the circuit, the triumphant 28 year old American shot a 2-under 68 to become the first back-to-back winner of the tournament in 29 years. Despite Tommy Fleetwood’s late charge, the popular Englishman was only able to take the runner up prize.
The heritage and prestige of the event attracts the world’s best players including Rory Mcllroy, Jason Day, Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, Tiger Woods and the defending champion Brooks Koepka. Returning to golf, Tiger Woods will be looking to secure his place in history to become four-time U.S. Open Champion, alongside some of the greats such as Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus.
Sky Sports’ exclusive coverage of the U.S. Open will feature a stellar line-up of talent such as Butch Harmon and Colin Montgomerie bringing viewers the best analysis of every tee, fairway and green.
