Vitality T20 Blast 2018 – Sky Sports

The nations favourite Domestic T20 County Cricket competition is back!

The Opportunity

The nations favourite domestic cricket competition is back! The T20 Blast returns to Sky Sports viewers screens in 2018 in what promises to be another huge summer of cricket.

With arguably the biggest summer of cricket on the horizon, an exciting opportunity presents itself to become a multi-platform sponsor of cricket’s famous Friday night tournament. The T20 Blast returns to Sky Sports in 2018, and it promises to be another unmissable event in the Sky Sports calendar. This opportunity allows the right brand to engage an affluent male audience across Sky’s multiple platforms, whilst building association with the UK’s hottest domestic cricket competition.

The Content

The T20 Blast features 18 first-class county cricket teams split into two groups (North and South) during the group stages of the competition. Each team will play one home game and one away game against every other team within their group. The teams that finish in the top four places within their group will proceed to the knockout stages, which then follows a simple knockout format until one team is crowned T20 Blast Champions. The fast-paced T20 format ensures the tournament is fierce, competitive and exciting for not only the avid cricket fans, but for the casual cricket fans too.

The T20 Blast is renowned for showcasing the best UK domestic cricket talent. Last year’s final saw the Nottingham Outlaws take on the Birmingham Bears in what promised to be an unmissable final. Despite an early slump which left the Outlaws 30-3, an incredible 132-run stand between Brendan Taylor (65) and Samit Patel (64 not out) propelled the Outlaws to 190-4. Nottingham’s total of 190 runs proved too much for a Birmingham Bears side who elected to field first, instead of putting runs on the board. A decision which later came back to haunt them, after youngster Ed Pollock was brilliantly run out by Patel after just 14 runs. The Birmingham Bears posted a final score of 168-8 (20 overs), which saw the Nottingham Outlaws win their first ever T20 Blast title.
